I did it. I finally restructured my website with Javascript.
I super don't know anything about Javascript. My coding knowledge has been limited to HTML and CSS ever since my Neopets days. But with the collapse of all social media and my growing hatred of seeing other people talk online, I wanted to find a way to make my website more of a central hub for all of my drawings and idle thoughts. I was looking up an easy way to install a blog on Neocities, found Zonelets, and realised I could reverse engineer the code into something I could use across my entire site. And I succeeded! It's pretty basic but it does the job.
The next thing I need to do is update the layout with some nice graphics and buttons. I have a vision in mind, but I'm lying in bed with covid right now so I won't be able to tackle that for a wee while yet. In the meantime, here's what I'm hoping to post here:
- Sketch dumps - at the moment this site has some little sketchbook pages with random drawings of characters from my various stories, but there isn't really a space for me to talk about the individual drawings other than in a lightbox caption.
- General project rambles - I don't have anywhere that I talk about my projects at length in any capacity, so it'll be nice to actually record progress on things I'm working on!
- Language-learning stuff - general blogposts about languages I'm learning or things I found interesting! I fucking love languages.
This is absolutely not going to be a regular thing, just something I can update when I feel like it. I'm going to look into installing an RSS feed as well (everything has to be done manually on Neocities, which is a pain but also means it's all extremely deliberate, which I do enjoy) so that people can subscribe to the blog if they want.
That's it I guess? Stay tuned?
